Paul de Leeuw’s much-discussed TV flop, Hotel Hollandia, is on the rise for the first time. 543 thousand people watched it last Saturday evening, which is about a hundred thousand more than the week before, when 446 thousand people were still glued to the TV. An important difference? “There are no more celebrities.”

No celebrities

Paul kicked off his program with two of the country’s least beloved celebrities, namely Rachel Hazes and Rob Kemps, and only had a musical performance by Numidia on the menu this weekend. He had a short chat with her, but there was no central celebrity guest.

What has changed in the program compared to the first episode? Tina Nijkamp plays ‘spot the differences’ on her analysis channel. “Two actors have disappeared from the basic cast, there are fewer political characters and no more celebrities as guests, but ‘ordinary’ Dutch people.”

Wellness

Moreover, more use is being made of hotels, according to Tina. “The room and wellness, for example. There is also a quiz in that wellness: ‘before and after Wednesday’. The winner gets money.”

The most important thing, however, is that the celebrities are no longer there. Except for the performing artist. “And he talks very briefly and sings a duet with Paul. And no more heavy topics in the show.”

Already much better

Maybe there is still hope, Tina decides. “Conclusion: it cannot be said that work is not being done on it. Thought the most recent episode was much better. More varied and less obligatory.”

Last Saturday, Paul faced Chantal’s new drama series: One Big Family. 638 thousand people watched that. Linda de Mol won the time slot with 787 thousand viewers for Ik HouVan Holland on SBS 6.
