Paul de Leeuw has been busy for months to get his TV child Ranking the Stars back from RTL to BNNVARA, but that now seems to be in doubt. The broadcaster is under heavy fire because of the transgressive behavior of countless former employees of De Wereld Draait Door. A program full of bullying does not fit well with that.

Ranking on hold?

According to Tina Nijkamp, former channel boss of SBS 6, it is likely that Ranking the Stars hold is put. “I think that BNNVARA could just cancel the Ranking the Stars program,” she says in her popular ratings juice channel. “Wouldn’t surprise me.”

Why? “In the program, it is mainly the presenter, and sometimes also the candidates, who make jokes about and at the expense of others, and BNNVARA may not think that fits the current zeitgeist.”

Too much negativity

According to Tina it rubs a bit. “Considering the DWDD scandal and Paul’s confession in Farm Van Dorst about his working methods behind the scenes. Perhaps a program with far too much negativity.”

Paul confessed in Farm Van Dorst that he has sometimes shown transgressive behavior behind the scenes of TV programs. According to the presenter, his hot flashes have become less over the years.

Astrid Joosten, who is good friends with Paul, also states that Paul’s misconduct cannot be compared to that of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.

She said this week in Op1: “It is the case with Paul – I know him very well – that he is also able to look in the mirror and apologize and present himself with a large bunch of flowers. That matters a lot.”
