Paul de Leeuw cut off after second hotel show on SBS 6: ‘Too bad!’

Has Paul de Leeuw managed to take revenge after the verbal strangulation by Angela de Jong with his TV show Hotel Hollandia? No, less than an hour after the second episode he was dropped from SBS 6.

It is doom and gloom for Paul de Leeuw. The TV celebrity made his comeback on Saturday evening last week with the new formula Hotel Hollandia, but this mix of sketches and interviews was not well received. Angela de Jong in particular went crazy; she took her largest serrated knife from the drawer and left nothing of this show intact.

Painful silence

Last night Paul did everything he could to take revenge with the second episode of Hotel Hollandia. Did that work? No, less than an hour after the broadcast on NPO 1, he was hit hard on the other side, on SBS 6, by the new entertainment expert of that program: Eline de Ruig.

Shownieuws had made a compilation of the second episode, but they couldn’t laugh about it. After the compilation we see no one laughing at the desk. “This is an awkward silence,” Patty Brard notes falsely.

Not good

Eline also finds it painful and starts laughing. “This is an awkward silence, yes. Hahahaha.”

Presenter Manuel Venderbos: “Yes, I think: I’ll just talk about it.”

Eline: “Hahaha.”

Manuel: “What did you think? Because you saw the whole episode.”

Eline: “I saw it and I really wanted to say that I enjoyed it and that I thought it had really improved, but unfortunately that is not entirely the case.”

Not spontaneous

It’s still bad, says Eline. “They have really adjusted some things, but in the end it is still Paul who interviews people, there are sketches and there is still a kind of sitcom through it. And that just doesn’t work very well. That’s just a shame.”

She continues: “It is very pre-produced and Paul can actually do so much more when he has spontaneous interviews with people from the audience and all kinds of things happen.”

Angela’s husband

Patty tries to spare Paul a little. “I thought the part with Jamai was very well done.”

Manuel: “But the short conclusion is that the second pancake was not completely successful either?”

Paul: “I think Angela is having an argument with her husband again at home. Hahahaha.”

Manuel, who hosts Angela’s podcast, concludes: “I think I’ll speak to him this week!”
