Patty Brard thinks Marc-Marie Huijbregts is a somewhat stupid man. He was broken into with a key he kept on his front door. “What a dumbass,” said the TV diva.
Marc-Marie Huijbregts was startled by burglars in the last weekend of January, in the night from Saturday to Sunday. His husband caught the thieves in the act and chased them out of the house. “They just came in with a cigarette in their mouth because they thought no one was there,” he says in his podcast Marc-Marie & Aaf Find Something†
Key in locker
It was immediately clear to Marc-Marie how the thieves got in. “We have renovated, really two or three years ago. That man then put a safe on the door with a code. We have our house key in it, because if someone happens to have to go in and we are not there, you can just say: ‘The key is in that locker.’”
Isn’t that a bit dangerous? Yes, agrees Marc-Marie. “We should have changed that code a long time ago and the man who came to replace our lock said: ‘Those lockers are very dangerous, because with a certain kind of hammer you punch a hole in them and they can go in like that.’ So it is of no use to you at all.”
5511
Then why did that key hang there for years? “Because once in a while – well, almost never – it was of use to us. We once had a mattress brought in, I was not at home and then I could say: ‘Gosh, you can fill in the code. That’s 5511. Then you can put it in the hall.’”
He concludes: “But then of course you have to change that code every now and then, but we didn’t do that. I think someone who sold or issued the code or knew that code themselves…”
Patty responds
What does Shownieuws Mrs. Patty Brard think about this? Dom, she thinks so. Very stupid. “What a dumbass. I just like the phenomenon of sticking your key to your door… I mean: put some coffee, cake and ‘welcome’!”
Colleague Bart Ettekoven: “Yes, such a doormat with a welcome and you can keep walking.”
Patty sighs: “What’s wrong with just leaving your key with the neighbors?”
