Patty Brard jumps into the breach for the ‘stupid’ candidates of De Slimste Mens who have been attacked. One of them is her good friend Guido Spek, who is known from GTST.
There is currently a lot of surprise about the level of knowledge of the candidates in De Slimste Mens. There is even a damning column written about it by AD opinion diva Angela de Jong. “Smart celebrities? They’re gone. Each episode I hope again that we have reached the bottom. But then it turns out to be even worse the next day.”
Patty in the breach
Patty Brard is particularly sorry for Guido Spek, who is one of those ‘stupid’ celebrities in De Slimste Mens. “A good friend of mine, Guido Spek, is currently in De Slimste Mens and he says: ‘Yes, but Pat, it’s just a game, isn’t it?!’ And of course it is!”, says the presenter Show news.
She continues: “You are better at one subject than the other. He knows a lot about some things and a little less about some things. That has something to do with age, of course.”
Lego dolls
You just have to be lucky with a question, says Patty. “It’s exactly what you get served in front of you. If you get Lego dolls that depict the biblical stories, then you only think at the ninth: oh yes, I recognize John the Baptist in it, but you do not recognize the nine before it and then you are suddenly called stupid.”
Colleague Tooske Ragas: “Plus, I have to say for all reviewers and reviewers at home: if you are sitting on a chair like that and a spotlight comes on your head and you have to know something within three seconds, because otherwise… That is of course also impossible.”
“Come hard!”
The TV critic Tooske is referring to, Angela, knows that better than anyone, right? She won the program once. Sandra Schuurhof: “Angela is of course such a reviewer and she did very well.”
Still, Angela has to be careful with what she writes down, says Patty. “When you are a little younger, it hits hard. I just want to say that.”
