The American artist is engaged in a series of acoustic concerts in sacred or otherwise evocative places in our country. His A tour of Italian Days it was in fact designed by the artist to present to the Italian public many of his iconic songs in a new guise.
The singer-songwriter – who recently published the book A Book of Dayswith words and photographs of a special year – however, he had to deal with an illness and therefore had to cancel his scheduled concert in Bologna.

Patti Smith: «sudden illness»
The news of the cancellation of the concert was broken by the same Duse Theatre, which was supposed to host the show, in a statement. «With great regret we inform the kind public that the Patti Smith concert scheduled for today 12 December 2023 at 9 pm at the Teatro Duse in Bologna will not be able to go on stage due to a sudden illness that struck the artist». The theater has already released the methods for obtaining a refund of tickets: those purchased on Vivaticket and Ticketone will be refunded directly by the respective circuits within 5 days. Anyone who purchased them at the Teatro Duse Bologna ticket office can request a refund by writing an email to [email protected].
The note continues like this. «They go to the artist our best wishes for a speedy recovery».
Patti Smith: Bologna and the “pressure surge”
According to Courier of Bolognaat the moment the singer-songwriter would be at the Maggiore Hospital for some tests. «She was visited in the emergency room and was kept under observation for the following hours and now she is hospitalized», we read.
It’s still: “The illness would be the result of a change in pressure and the singer, as can be seen from her entourage, is serene.”
On Saturday evening Patti Smith, 76 years old, performed in Modena cathedral. Her tour, with eight dates in Italy, includes a final stop at the Malibran theater in Venice on December 14th.
