Patrick Vandoorne is therefore allowed to visit Prince Albert of Monaco, thanks to his son and racing driver Stoffel Vandoorne. “Also because Stoffel lives in Monaco and that he knows the prince as a sportsman,” says Patrick. “Apparently the prince likes art. The helmet I made is supposed to fit somewhere in his interior or in his museum.”

At the end of this month, Patrick will exhibit his porcelain and ceramic helmets and horses in a prestigious hotel during the Grand Prix Formula 1. “Be able to do something in Monaco, during a Monaco Grand Prix in the most beautiful corner of the Monaco circuit: just being able to do it gives me satisfaction.”

Jump in the dark

And who knows, maybe Monaco is a springboard to more? “I hope to be able to make contacts there and try to sell. I don’t know what to think about it, what the marketability is, whether there is interest in it or not. It’s a leap into nothing.”
