Roest was always tested for corona before and during the tournament, but the results were always negative. However, the winner of Olympic silver in the 5 and 10 kilometers did not feel completely fit and had himself tested again when he returned home in the Netherlands.

Roest saw the result coming: „Given that I feel this way and that several skaters from our team and beyond tested positive last week, this does not come as a surprise to me. It may also explain why I experienced the tournament as so tough.” Beau Snellink and Marcel Bosker, teammates of Roest, also tested positive earlier.
The World Cup final in Thialf is next weekend. Roest about his chance of participating: „We will see that later this week. In any case, I hope to be fit again soon.”
