Patrick Roest falls short of Nils van der Poel and ends World Cup all-round with silver | Ice skating

Olympic champion keeps home at 10 kilometers

Just like at the Olympics, Patrick Roest was trumped by Nils van der Poel. In the Norwegian Hamar he had to lose out to the Swede in the 10 kilometers, not entirely surprising. Earlier in the tournament, Roest had built up a margin of more than 21 seconds over the two-time champion of Beijing. However, that lead disappeared like snow in the sun, allowing Van der Poel to crown himself as the best all-rounder.
