Top name in all-time NHL match stats Patrick Marleau has officially ended his career as a player. Marleau played his last match about a year ago.
Marleau rose to the top of all-time match statistics last season after overtaking the legendary Gordie Howen. In all, Marleau played as many as 1,779 regular season matches in his career, scoring 1,197 power points.
For most of his career, Marleau represented San Jose Sharks, who reserved him in 1997, where he also ended his career. In his final years, he also represented the Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Despite a 23-day NHL career, Marleau failed to win the Stanley Cup.
The biggest achievements of Marleau’s career are the 2010 and 2014 Olympic victories. In addition, he won World Cup gold twice.
