Patrick Lefevere tries to reassure staff in email after merger messages
In the leaked message, Lefevere apologized for the unrest that arose on Sunday, after it became known that merger talks were underway between Soudal Quick-Step and the Dutch Jumbo-Visma. Cycling website WielerFlits released the news on Sunday evening that talks between Soudal Quick-Step and Jumbo-Visma have been going on since mid-July.
“Matter of time until merger”
According to insiders, it would be a matter of time before the merger is completed. “I am sending you this email after the media reports that you have seen,” Lefevere began his email. He did not refer to Jumbo-Visma once in the message.
“I am sure that the reports have caused uncertainty and I would like to apologize for that. Discussions have been held with various parties in recent months. I have always been open to all parties who wanted to invest in our team. There are currently no concrete projects or plans. If that changes, you will be informed.”
Lefevere ended by asking that the letter be kept private. That appears not to have been successful.
