Chicago Blackhawks star forward Patrick Kane is close to a transfer to another NHL club, reports TSN.
Kane, 34, will not play in the next game against the San Jose Sharks. Kane is currently considering continuing his career with the Blackhawks.
“Based on Patrick’s current situation, we have collectively decided that it is more appropriate that he does not play during his grace period,” Kane’s agent Pat Brisson commented according to TSN.
TSN’s respected reporter Darren Dreger said on Twitter that Kane is no longer even with the Blackwahks team on the away game trip.
– He has apparently returned to his home, Dreger wrote.
Chicago’s trade partner is very likely to be the New York Rangers, who earlier in February signed Russian forward Vladimir Tarasenko to their ranks.
by an ESPN reporter by Emily Kaplan according to the clubs have a mutual interest in bartering.
Kaplan writes on Twitter that the Rangers must first clear their salary cap space and find a third party to take part of Kane’s salary into their account.
Also Pierre LeBrun said on Twitter that the clubs are currently building a possible trade deal.
Kane will make $10.5 million this season, and the Rangers don’t have room for that in their salary cap.
Kane’s contract has a non-transfer clause that he can cancel himself. It is believed that Kane wants to move to Rangers, and he is not really interested in other clubs. This gives the Rangers leverage, and the Blackhawks can’t demand anything in terms of a trade.
Rangers set on Saturday already Jake Leschyshyn to the transfer list and your trade Vitaly Kravtsov to the Vancouver Canucks. This is how the club made some room in its salary cap.
Kane has played his entire NHL career with the Blackhawks. He has won the Stanley Cup three times in the club.
