Nevertheless, he has no intention of stopping and, with caution and sometimes his heart pounding, he fully conquers the nickname of Angel of Hamburg. Word spreads and passport applications increase, to the point of not being able to please everyone. That’s not all, because the second installment of Passport to freedom he also sees the formidable at center stage Thomas Zumkle (Peter Ketnath).

Zumkle discovers that Vivi is Jewish

The SS captain launches an internal investigationwith the aim of demonstrating that, behind the illegal sale of passports, there is the Vice Consul João (Rodrigo Lombardi). Furthermore, it promises to Vivi Krüger (Gabriella Petry) that she will free her father, but in the end the father dies and the woman receives his ashes in a box. It is at this point that she decides to join the Resistance.

Zumkle, on the other hand, suspicious of Aracy’s movements, discovers that the woman is helping Hugo and Margarethe Levy, played respectively by Bruce Gomlevsky and Isabella Gwizdak. So he keeps an eye on both Aracy and João, sure they’re hiding something. In the second and third episodes, always aired tonight, things go badly for the Jews.

The ostracism continues and now it has moved on toexpropriation of non-Aryan enterprises. An action that the captain takes advantage of for his own benefit. Yet, Vivi decides to help Helena Krik (Sivan Cast) and it does so by asking around for information about the resistance. In particular, addresses Karl Schaffer (Tomas Sinclair Spencer), who tries to seduce. Unfortunately something goes wrong and the man discovers that Vivi is Jewish. What will become of her?

Meanwhile, Zumkle files a false complaint against John and so the Gestapo begins an investigation about him and Milton Hardner (Stefan Weinert). In the end, the captain tries to kiss Aracy. It is evident that the woman is not interested, but she does not care. de Carvalho defends himself and finally hits him.

Who is João Guimarães Rosa?

There are many films and TV series that tell the horror of the Holocaust. To distinguish Passport to freedom from other products is the true story from which it is taken. The protagonists Aracy de Carvalho and João Guimarães Rosa really existed and became two fundamental characters in the history of Brazil, especially Rosa.

Who is João Guimarães Rosa? Born in 1908 in Brazil, as a child he developed a deep passion for study and, in particular, for foreign languages. And this is perhaps the first step towards an international career. Before leaving the country, at sixteen he enrolled in the faculty of medicine. Subsequently marries Lígia Cabral Penna, with whom he has two daughters, Vilma and Agnes.

For a few years he worked in Itaúna, a city that would later inspire several of his works. In 1932 he leaves as volunteer doctor in the Força Pública during the revolution and met the future president Juscelino Kubitschek. In the following years, he becomes a diplomatic and is sent to Hamburg, where he meets the future second wife, Aracy de Carvalho.

Once he returned to Brazil from the European parenthesis, he began to devote himself to the activity of writer. The debut dates back to 1946 with Sagaranafollowed ten years later by Corps de ballet.
