You often have to buy a house on, for example, Antigua, Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia or St Kitts. A home from about one and a half tons (you often no longer even have a garage for that), yields a permanent place under the radiant Caribbean sun, writes the British broadcaster BBC.
Do not pay any power or inheritance tax on many islands
Another advantage for the new residents is that no wealth tax or inheritance tax is levied on many islands. You can also live there with dual nationality, so you don’t have to give up your own pass.
The English broadcaster spoke with brokers in Antigua, where the minimum buying limit is at $ 300,000, who say that it is now mainly Americans who resort to the islands.

But Chinese and Turks, Nigerians and Ukrainians are also happy to move. If only because they can travel freely with that Caribbean passport in our Schengen zones.
Research into ‘leak’
The European Commission has already announced that it will investigate this ‘leak’. The committee wants to prevent, for example, criminals from traveling through an island without too many restrictions in the EU.

According to the BBC, the scheme is a great success. Last year, twelve percent more would have been made for new passports.
