An alert passer-by in Pastoor Thijssenlaan in Sterksel ensured that a fire in an apartment was nipped in the bud on Saturday afternoon. The passerby heard a fire alarm go off and called 911.
The fire brigade arrived at the site of the fire with two fire trucks. At first it was not clear whether anyone was still in the apartment. This appeared to not be the case. The firefighters had to force a few doors in the apartment to do this.
The fire is now under control. The apartment suffered a lot of soot and water damage. Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.
