The accident happened on Saturday morning around 4 am along the Koksijdesteenweg between Oostduinkerke and Koksijde. A 25-year-old driver from De Panne lost control of the car in a bend and crashed into several trees and a garden fence. It was a heavy collision. The vehicle is completely total. The left front is heavily damaged. The car also lost its left front wheel.
The vehicle, a Dodge RAM 1500, had five passengers. One of the passengers, a 49-year-old man from De Panne, was seriously injured, but is out of danger. He has a head injury and is experiencing pain in his leg and chest area. The driver gave a negative alcohol and drug test.
The MUG service, three ambulances and the fire brigade arrived on the scene. Police closed the track for a while until the vehicle was towed away and the debris was cleared from the track. The track is now open to traffic again.
