Brussels MP Pascal Smet (Vooruit.brussels) was forced to absent himself from Friday’s plenary meeting because he is temporarily confined to a wheelchair after a cycling accident. His party colleague Els Rochette criticized the fact that the Brussels Parliament is not accessible to wheelchair users and urged urgent adjustments. Parliament Speaker Rachid Madrane acknowledges the problem. “It is up to the next agency to make the necessary adjustments.”
