Pascal Smet denies having exerted pressure for Iranian delegation visa: “No arm twisted”

There was no pressure, but a request to admit a delegation from Tehran. The final decision rested with the federal government. “I would of course not have disputed a reasoned refusal. However, it never materialized”, State Secretary Pascal Smet (Vooruit) stated today during a topical debate in the Brussels Parliament. “So the real question is: do we want Brussels to be an international diplomatic capital or not?” he concluded.
