Pascal Jansen and captain Martins Indi see AZ falling through the lower limit: “Very below average”

Despite reaching the quarter-finals, there were hardly any smiling faces to be seen at AZ afterwards. Pascal Jansen’s formation advanced one round at the expense of Quick Boys, but the way the victory came about left much to be desired. Captain Bruno Martins Indi saw himself and his teammates reaching a questionable level. “You can never do well against an amateur club.”

“If you won 4-1 today, they would still be talking about the goal you conceded,” Martins Indi says afterwards. “But the way we played was very below par”

“This was just a very bad match. No excuses”

“We were sloppy, the pressure was applied too late, the distances were too great, counter on counter and we gave away the goals far too easily,” Martins Indi lists all the problems one after the other.

Pascal Jansen had also experienced a nicer cup evening in the AZ stadium and saw his team struggle for almost the entire match against the amateurs from Katwijk. “This was just a very bad match. No excuses. There was frustration in the team and at times we did not get into the matches. It also took a very long time in an attacking sense before we created opportunities. We then made a number of serious personal mistakes. and they are punished mercilessly,” says Jansen.
