Party without corona rules, but with polonaise in Stiekelstad

No mandatory closing time, no 1,5 meters, no QR codes and no more mouth caps. The fact that almost all corona measures have disappeared from today are literally and figuratively a big party for carnival association ‘t Stiekelzwien from Barger-Compascuum.

“We can go all out and don’t have to think about anything. Everyone can come, even people who don’t want to be tested,” says Manfred Bos, chairman of carnival association ‘t Stiekelzwien about the party in Barger-Compascuum. Or as the village is called during Carnival: Stiekelstad. No more than five hundred tickets were sold for the party, so there was no need to check QR codes at the entrance.

scripts

The carnival association had little time to get the party going. “But luckily we had close consultation with our catering industry. They already had a program ready,” says Bos. “As an association, we were not allowed to do anything in terms of events at the time. After the press conference in which the relaxation was announced, we grabbed the scripts and immediately sat down with the catering industry.”

flu

Bos is not concerned with the fact that the carnival may cause a wave of infections. “I am not afraid of it. It will lead to more infections, but I think that this corona variant is in our favor. The scientists among us will have thought about it carefully. We may have a flu after that time, but that is worth it.”
