The baseball players of HCAW in Bussum will be honored with a big party on Saturday for winning the European championship two weeks ago. The selection is first driven through Bussum in an open bus and then treated to a party program in the center.
Two weeks ago, HCAW won the European title for the first time in club history by beating defending champion Parma. The municipality of Gooise Meren speaks of a ‘unique, historic achievement’.
Since the success of HCAW, the municipality has been hatching a plan to honor the baseball players. That will now happen next Saturday, right after HCAW’s regular season game against Curaçao Neptunus, the competitor for the national title. After the match, an open bus with the selection leaves from the sports park of the Bussumers to the center of Bussum on Saturday evening.
Party in the center
Bussumers and fans of HCAW are called upon to cheer on the selection along the way. Once at the Wilhelminaplantsoen, a big party is planned, including a performance by a DJ and eventually also the honoring of HCAW.
Mayor Han ter Heegde and sports alderman Jelmer Kruijt have already announced that they will present HCAW with a ‘suitable gift’.
