The provincial roads N34 (Hunebed Highway), N381 (Friesland Route) and N391 (Emmen Ring Road) will be partially closed on several weekends in September and October. The province then starts mowing the verges. The work will start next Friday and will be completed on Sunday 9 October.
The Friesland Route (N381) will be closed between Beilen and Westerbork between Friday 30 September and Monday 3 October. From Westerbork to Emmen the road is blocked from Friday 30 September to Saturday 1 October, and from Friday evening 7 October to Sunday 9th.
The mowing work at the Emmen ring road (N391) is only planned for this weekend. This Friday evening the road from Ter Apel to Emmerchans will be closed. The road will be reopened on Sunday morning.
In addition to the N34, N381 and N391, other provincial N-roads of Drenthe will also be mowed in the next two months. These road sections remain open, traffic can continue along the moving barriers. It is not clear along which routes these mowing activities are.
Mowing is necessary because excessive vegetation hinders it, the province reports, which also takes into account protected plants and animals on the verge.
