“Unfortunately this day was given a very sad turn. During the trip a participant became unwell and died of this,” the organization says in a statement.
2200 mountain bikers participated in the battle. The finish of the sporting event coincided with the Brink to Brink running competition, in which more than five hundred people participated. That event was also stopped.
“Out of respect, we as an organization have decided to end both events early. Our thoughts go to the family and those involved. We wish them all the strength and strength in this great loss,” says the statement.
