The plenary meeting of the House on Thursday evening gave the green light for a new maritime security law. The design by Minister of the North Sea Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open VLD) provides biometric access controls in the ports and makes it possible to keep ships out more easily. The new rules have been coming for a while, but are all the more topical given the Russian war in Ukraine.
