Parking for residents in Berlin is now REALLY expensive

More expensive parking is not the end of the story. Red-Green-Red has even more plans up its sleeve.

The current status: ►2023: The price for the resident vignette will be significantly increased.

According to the current plan, it should increase twelvefold – from 10 euros a year to 10 euros a month. Many red-green-red politicians did not think that 20 euros for two years of free parking was appropriate.

However, there is still a lot of preparatory work to be done, because the drastic increase is an entry into the financing of public transport by drivers. The previous mini-revenues from the vignettes do not even reach the transport senate – ultimately they are to be redistributed to the BVG pot in the future. In particular, to finance denser clocks on the outskirts.

2024: Introduction of a mandatory tourist ticket as a travel ticket.

After the hoped-for end of the Corona crisis, everyone who stays in hotels or found accommodation via a booking platform should pay this guest ticket – and thus be able to use the BVG for free.

Details are to be negotiated with the industry. What would the compulsory ticket bring? At a price of 5 euros/day 65 million euros, at 8 euros/day up to 175 million euros.
