A parking ban now applies on the Oude Willemsweg in Oude Willem. The measure was introduced to prevent nuisance from wolf spotters in the Drents-Friese Wold.
The municipality of Westerveld has taken this decision together with the municipality of Ooststellingwerf, reports Omrop Fryslan. In addition to parking, it is also not permitted to park your car along the road.
More than a week ago, dozens of people tried to catch a glimpse of a young wolf catching mice. According to a forest ranger, a number of spectators even went so far as to rattle bowls of food next to the road.
The parking ban was not necessary at the time, but according to the municipalities, this is now the case.
