Nantes (dpa) – FC Nantes surprisingly beat Paris Saint-Germain. The candidate for international business beat the star squad around Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé 3-1 (3-0) and defended fifth place in the table ahead of Olympique Lyon.
The Parisians, who had won 1-0 against Real Madrid in the Champions League during the week, started the game with six position changes and were shocked right from the start: Kolo Muani shot the ball past PSG goalkeeper Kaylor Navas with his outside instep to 1:0 in the 4th minute of the game. Quentin Merlin (16th) and Ludovic Blas (45th + 6) increased to a 3-0 half-time lead.
Neymar scored the 1-3 goal straight after the break. Paris were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute, but Neymar hesitated long before taking the shot and missed miserably when he placed the ball weakly in the centre-right and Nantes keeper Alban Lafont had no trouble parrying.
Olympique Lyon drew 1-1 away at RC Lens, missing a step towards Champions League spots. World champion Jerome Boateng was absent due to illness, according to coach Peter Bosz. After his suspension, he was supposed to return to the squad.
