Paris 1919 by John Cale

This 1973 album is widely considered to be John Cale’s best work. Less eclectic than “Vintage Violence” and more accessible than its avant-garde attempts, “Paris 1919” is romantic chamber music with surrealistic poetry.

In addition to Cale himself, only one trio made music: Lowell George did an excellent job on guitar, William Felder played bass, Richie Hayward drums.

Cale’s organ and UCLA string orchestra fuel such wonderful tracks as “Child’s Christmas In Wales”, “The Endless Plain Of Fortune” and “Andalucia”, not to mention – “You Ye a ghost la la la la” – “Paris 1919”. .

The berserker, who was soon to deliver “Slow Dazzle”, was still a very eccentric artist here, who intoned the tender tunes with his unsuitable voice.
