Parents of the Langemark nursery find it difficult to receive care after an incident
Last week, an incident happened in Kiekeboe daycare in Langemark in which a child suffered a serious injury. Kind en Gezin then decided to temporarily close the crèche for three months. The parents of about twenty children now have to look for an alternative.
That is difficult, however, confirms mayor Dominique Cool: “Most parents have not yet found a solution. That is why our social service is looking for them together, both in Langemark and in the neighboring municipalities.” There was also a shortage of childcare facilities before the incident.
“Maybe open earlier”
The circumstances of the incident are still unclear. Kind en Gezin investigates exactly what happened, and then determines whether further steps need to be taken. “But if there turns out to be no problem, childcare may open earlier than after three months,” said Cools.
According to Kind en Gezin, there were no previous problems with Kiekeboe.
