Parents lay wreath at the place where their daughter Sumanta Bansi was found

The parents of Sumanta Bansi arrived this morning at the Neutronweg in Hoorn, where the physical remains of their daughter were found last week after a major search. The father and mother laid a wreath there and reflected on the loss of their child. Mayor Jan Nieuwenburg and other family members were also present to receive the two. The missing case of the Hoorn student (23) lasted a total of four years.

After Manodj B.’s new lawyer urged to end the uncertainty for Sumanta’s family that had been going on for years, he told where Sumanta’s body would lie.

Shortly afterwards a search was started and soon human remains were found, it turned out to be Sumanta.

Employees of the construction training center Crescendo could not stop talking about the search next to their company. Human remains were found where they normally dumped their green waste. “The idea that we walked over her is too bizarre for words,” one of them told NH Nieuws shortly after the search.

The Veterans Search Team also searched various places for Sumanta before, but the location to which Manodj B. led the investigation was never designated as a search area. “We’ve never been there, so at least we didn’t miss her,” said veteran Tom. “I would hate that. Somehow I am ‘glad’ that she was not found in a place where we searched.”

Over the past four years, NH Nieuws has closely followed the investigation and search for Sumanta. In this reconstruction read the whole story, from disappearance, to conviction to discovery.
