Parents will always be liable in the future for the damage caused by their child under the age of sixteen. This is stated in the modernization of extra-contractual liability law, which today received the green light in its first reading in the competent House committee. Today, these rules consist of six articles in the Civil Code. The bill by Koen Geens (CD&V) and Katja Gabriëls (Open VLD) expands this to 42 articles.
