The squirrel is slowly feeding itself: Berlin is at least a tiny bit further along when it comes to digitalization. Parental allowance can now be applied for in the capital without paper!

Anyone who submits an application using the online service “ElterngeldDigital” can submit their data, evidence and signature completely digitally. This eliminates the need to print out the application and send it by post.

During a visit to the Marzahn-Hellersdorf family service office, Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus (54, Greens) and Family Senator Katharina Günther-Wünsch (40, CDU) were shown the receipt of a digital application and its processing.

The senator emphasizes: “If you would like advice on submitting an application, you will still find free support in filling it out in the family service offices and can submit the application there directly online.”

43,000 applications for parental allowance have already been submitted in the capital this year. When asked by the BZ, the Senate was unable to say how many Berliners receive parental allowance in total and referred to the Family Ministry. There was no answer from there.
