Earlier in the day, that company, also called Nord Stream 2, already reported that the contracts with its employees had been terminated as a result of US sanctions. As a result, more than 100 people lost their jobs at the company.

Last week, due to the Russian threat of war in Ukraine, Germany already decided that the process for obtaining a license for Nord Stream 2 will be temporarily halted. The pipeline to transport gas directly from Russia to Germany is ready but cannot be commissioned without that approval.
The project has been controversial for some time. The United States in particular sees the connection as an opportunity for Russia to increase its pressure on Europe.
