Eight decisions in Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding are on the second day of the Paralympics competition in Beijing (Sunday, March 6th, 2022, from 3 a.m CET) at. The hottest medal contender from a German point of view is once again flag bearer Anna-Lena Forster.
Para Alpine Skiing: Super-G with Forster and Co.
Just one day after winning silver in the downhill, Forster also counts in the downhill Super G sitting to the favorites. In the second fastest alpine discipline, the 26-year-old monoski athlete only had one of her four in January WM-Gold medals secured from Lillehammer.
In the competition for standing riders, Anja Rothfuss, who narrowly missed out on bronze in the downhill, and Anna-Maria Rieder should certainly have a chance of taking the top spots. It is the debut in Beijing for the 22-year-old Rieder.
Para cross-country skiing: Wicker and Fleig over the long distance
The long distances of the sitting competition in cross-country skiing are on the program for the Nordic athletes. The women complete 12 kilometers of cross-country skiing, before the men have to go on their 18-kilometer route.
Anja Wicker and Martin Fleig, who each finished fifth in the biathlon sprint, will compete for the German team. Wicker in particular had hoped for more and announced that he was fighting: “There will be another attack in the next few days.”
