Beijing (dpa) – ARD and ZDF have drawn a positive conclusion after reporting on the Winter Paralympics.
An average of 512,000 viewers watched the broadcasts from both channels, according to a statement. According to ARD, this corresponds to a market share of 8.5 percent. “Overall, everything worked perfectly, and the audience also appreciated our effort,” said ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky.
The programs from Beijing were particularly successful on conventional television when they were “placed in the context of the regular winter sports program,” it said. According to ARD, a Paralympics report as part of the broadcast of the Ski Flying World Championships was viewed by 1.998 million viewers (14.8 percent).
The broadcasters had significantly reduced the Paralympics coverage on traditional television compared to 2018. The bulk of the transmissions ran on the Internet, where the offer was more extensive than four years ago and amounted to 50 hours.
