parade of corgis (with chaplet) in honor of Queen Elizabeth

Nonothing better than a walk with the corgis to mark the first anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabethwho died on 8 September 2022 in Balmoral, Scotland. Queen Elizabeth distracts herself from Meghan and Harry with her passion: corgis

Corgi’s tribute to Queen Elizabeth

Agatha Crerer-Gilbert, organizer of the event, commented: «I can’t think of a better way to remember the Queen if not through his corgis, through the breed he had adored all his life». And now Crerer-Gilbert intends to turn it into an annual appointment, to be repeated in the week of Elizabeth’s anniversary.

Corgis were Queen Elizabeth’s passion

Queen Elizabeth had had many puppies in her long reign. She took them for walks twice a day around her estates and they followed her every move. For this reason, therefore, the Royal Family never misses an opportunity to include them in every celebration concerning the monarch: last year, on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee, a parade was organized with hundreds of corgis at Balmoral; And a few months ago, a was even dedicated to them Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

Sandy and Muick are now in the care of Sarah Ferguson

Elizabeth’s last two corgis – Sandy and Muick – are now entrusted to Prince Andrew (who had given them to his mother) and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who reside not far from Windsor Castle. At court they are always described as two noisy pests, always intent on chasing each other by barking. But last September 19, on the occasion of the monarch’s funeral, they moved the whole world waiting patiently, and in silence, for the arrival of the coffin in front of the Royal chapel.

All the queen’s corgis

Throughout her long life the monarch had possessed more than 30 corgis, starting with the legendary Susan, the dog given by her father George VI to the then princess, in 1944, for her 18th birthday. Elizabeth adored her so much that she took her with her (secretly) even on her honeymoon with Philip three years later.

Which corgi was she most proud of? Willow, protagonist of the Olympics

Of all her corgis, Queen Elizabeth was particularly fond of Willow, a descendant (she belonged to the 14th generation) of the historic Susan. Willow was the last of Elizabeth’s Royal Corgi – the others were purchased from specialized breeders.

The queen was forced to say goodbye to her Willow in 2018, but the little dog had now entered the canine history of the Windsors, thanks also to the sketch with Elizabeth herself and James Bond (Daniel Craig), filmed on the occasion of the 2012 London Olympics .
