The man who is accused of rape by Maxime Meiland but wants to remain anonymous was captured yesterday by various media. “There is an image.”
Maxime Meiland has caused a lot of anger among the man she accuses of rape in her biography. He sued her for defamation and the trial took place yesterday. Remarkably, the man himself was also present, despite the fact that he wishes to remain anonymous. In fact, that’s why he started the whole lawsuit.
Juice Channel
RTL Boulevard host Eddy Zoëy finds this presence striking. “What I find a bit confusing: that boy said that the entire village knows who he is because of the book and that his reputation is damaged.”
He continues in the show section: “It is now being dealt with behind closed doors because the identity of that boy must be kept hidden, but he is not allowed to enter through a secret door. There only needs to be one juice channel with a camera and then not the entire village, but the whole of the Netherlands, will know who he is.”
‘Can happen’
Aran Bade does not rule out that the photo will still leak. “That could still happen. It is customary for everyone to enter through the front door; we are all equal. You can make an application because he wants to guarantee his privacy – that is what the whole case is about – but the court rejected that.”
Aran now also knows what this boy looks like. “We also spoke to this boy, because the photographers really started taking pictures.”
Silhouette photo
How did the photographers know who the ‘rapist’ was? “The magazine photographers knew it, because he also gave several interviews where a silhouette photo was taken. We responded and walked towards that boy. Afterwards he denied to us that he is this person,” says Aran.
He continues: “There was a woman there, I think his mother, but the photographers say it’s definitely him. And he simply had to go through the main entrance and therefore enter past us.”
‘Very erratic’
Criminal lawyer Clarice Stenger thinks that the man will not be happy that there is now a risk that his photo will be published. “I thought he wouldn’t be there.”
The man must hope that the media will be favorable to him, she concludes. “It is true that a lot of media are not going to show it now, but it is strange that your image is captured on camera somewhere.”
