According to the statement on the NBA’s website, 20-year-old Banchero won the best rookie award in the 2022-2023 season as a result of voting by members of the media.
Oklahoma City Thunder’s Jalen Williams was second and Utah Jazz’s Walker Kessler was third.
Banchero, who won the award in which players who spent their first year in the league were nominated and named after the legendary basketball player Wilt Chamberlain this year, finished the regular season with averages of 20 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
Banchero, on the other hand, is the third Magic player to win this award, after Shaquille O’Neal (1992-1993) and Mike Miller (2000-2001).
