Panini stickers, familiar to soccer fans, have caused quite a stir in Argentina.

World Cup stickers went on sale in the country at the end of August, but then quickly disappeared from stores. This was suspected to be a marketing gimmick by the company called New Rita, which is responsible for the distribution of products on behalf of the fans. New Rita has denied the claim and promised to ease the availability problem.

Help has also been received from the Argentine Ministry of Trade, which held negotiations with the company on Tuesday. There were also members of the country’s trade owners’ association, who are dissatisfied with the availability of products. The deviation of small shops from the agreed price of 150 pesos (about 1 euro) for the package has also caused anger.

Panini always publishes the stickers of the players of all the teams and the collector hat belonging to them under the awards. In larger football countries, the same product is also available from local leagues.

Founded in the 1960s, Panini is the market leader in soccer sticker manufacturers. In the World Cup year 2018, the turnover of the Italian company was 1.4 million dollars.

The World Cup in Qatar starts on November 20.
