Panic! at the Disco singer Brendon Urie announced in a lengthy Instagram post that his band was splitting up. The reason is that he and his wife are expecting their first child together. In order to be able to concentrate on this new chapter, he breaks up the band after almost 20 years. He thanked all fans, whether old or new, and his companions.

“Sometimes a journey has to end before a new one can begin. We’ve tried to keep it a secret, but maybe some of you have heard it by now. Sarah and my first child will be born very soon. The prospect of becoming a father and watching my wife become a mother is both exciting and humbling. I am really looking forward to this next adventure.”

Urie formed the band in her native Las Vegas in 2004 with Brent Wilson, Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith. Her first album “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” from 2005 made her famous. Also with the following albums “Pretty. Odd” (2008), “Vices & Virtues” (2011), “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die” (2013) they had success. During this period, however, all of the founding members left the group except for their lead singer. Bassist Wilson in 2006, his successor Jon Walker and guitarist Ross in 2009. Most recently, drummer Smith went his own way in 2015. Subsequent albums Death of a Bachelor (2016), Pray for the Wicked (2018) and the finale Viva Las Vengeance (2022) were Brendon Urie solo albums with changing instrumentalists but constant production by Jake Sinclair.

Before Panic! at the Disco will officially end, but there is still a European tour coming up. Three shows are also planned in Germany between their start on February 20th in Vienna and their end on March 10th in Manchester. They will perform in Munich on February 21st, in Hamburg on the 23rd and in Cologne on the 24th.
