Pálsson leaves FC Schalke 04 for the USA

The Icelandic national soccer player Victor Pálsson leaves Bundesliga promoted Schalke 04 and joins DC United from Major League Soccer (MLS).

As Schalke announced on Wednesday, the 31-year-old signed a “long-term contract” with coach Wayne Rooney’s club. It was agreed not to disclose the transfer fee, according to media reports it should be 500,000 euros.

“It was not an easy decision for either side. Victor’s family lives in North America, this package is just right for him,” said Schalke’s sporting director Rouven Schröder.

Pálsson came to Gelsenkirchen from Darmstadt 98 in the summer of 2021 and, with 28 appearances (three goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga, played a significant role in Schalke’s resurgence.
