Painting by young talent Fleur Stebis in Asser city collection

Assen has purchased an oil painting from the young talent Fleur Stebis (17) for the Asser city collection. It is the third addition to the collection of artworks that Assen wants to build over the city in the coming years.

Since September, Fleur Stebis has been training at The Florence Academy of Art, a classical art academy in the Italian city of Florence. She also received financial support from the municipality for this. In return, Asser’s painting talent creates two works of art.

The first, a painting of the music dome in the Gouverneurstuin, was handed over to culture alderman Bob Bergsma this afternoon. She made that work last summer. “I chose this place because it is a place where young talent gets a chance. My friend Isabella once stood there singing on stage during the Preuvenement, as the opening of the cultural season. She got a chance to play her musical talent, and I now get a chance to show my painting talent. That’s how it comes together nicely,” she says, beaming.

The intention is that after completing the three-year art training in Florence, the young painting talent will make a second painting by Assen, which will also be included in the city collection. She doesn’t know yet what that will be. Although she has mainly been working on nude portraits in the past six months.
