Painful relegation Rooney with Derby | Football

Derby County’s relegation is not very remarkable. The club was given no less than 21 penalty points this season for violation of the accounting rules of the English Football League.

Derby has played under the two top divisions in English football for just four seasons. The last time was in the 1985-1986 season. Phillip Cocu was Rooney’s predecessor as Derby County coach.

“I’m standing here with a strange feeling,” Rooney, 36, told Sky Sports. “Of course we are disappointed, but we have developed as a group. The fans have always supported us. The future of the club is now uncertain, my future is uncertain. I am happy and proud to be a trainer here.”
