Just as Glennis Grace is recovering a bit, a threat suddenly blows over from South Africa: Belinda Davids. She is widely booked as the new Whitney Houston imitation.
Glennis Grace is the most famous imitation act in the Netherlands, but the imitation of Whitney Houston has come to an abrupt end due to the demolition of a Jumbo branch. Almost everyone canceled their collaboration with the singer and then there is always someone who jumps in the hole you leave behind, in this case singer Belinda Davids.
New Whitney impersonation
The South African Belinda, who participated in Britain’s Got Talent, is suddenly booked by countless Dutch theaters as the new Whitney impersonator. From Apeldoorn to Amersfoort and from Groningen to Rijswijk: it is literally everywhere in the fall. And that is of course not good for Glennis’ business.
Patty Brard reviewed it last night Show news. “Glennis has always wanted to focus on her own material and she didn’t really want to be a Whitney Houston impersonator, but yeah… At some point, when you watch Spotify, you just see that all the best songs streamed from Glennis , are all covers.”
No own hits
Glennis isn’t much without Whitney. “She doesn’t really have a big hit of her own. Now that Jumbo incident was here, she was no longer able to work here and in the end she went to Jerusalem again with Whitney Houston covers. She gave a big concert there on May 17.”
She continues: “And now it appears that someone is coming to the Netherlands who once won Britain’s Got Talent as Whitney, namely Belinda Davids. He is 46 years old and comes from South Africa. She is going to do a tour in Belgium and the Netherlands and will therefore sing all the Whitney Houston material. So that actually means that that is also being filled in.”
“This is Belinda!”
The Shownieuws viewer is warmed up to this Belinda. Presenter Annemarie Brüning during some images: “So this is Belinda, right? It’s bizarre.”
Patty sympathizes with Glennis. “You know, if that is also taken away from her, then it is high time for her own hit. Where do you conjure it up so quickly, being Glennis Grace… I still think she is conjured out of the big hat at Fred & Friends and that everyone is happy with each other again.”
backtrack
Private boss Evert Santegoeds hopes so for Glennis. “We have also always said: ‘If you have served your sentence, then that should be possible.’ She just shouldn’t go back and say that what happened didn’t happen. She was not convicted for nothing.”
