A football player Pablo Mari was the victim of a stabbing in Milan on Thursday. Several Italian news sites report on the matter.

According to Rai News A 46-year-old Italian man stabbed five people in a grocery store located in a shopping center. According to La Rebublica magazine the man who took the knife from the shop shelf would have stabbed up to eight people.

Three of the victims were seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital by helicopter.

The man who worked at the cash register suffered injuries to his chest and stomach. He died on the way to the hospital.

According to Sky tg24 Marí is also in the hospital. The Spanish player is conscious and his condition is not critical.

The shop’s customers prevented the stabber from escaping, and because of that the police were able to arrest the person.

– We were terrified. We didn’t understand what was going on. We saw people running away crying, the eyewitness says.

The police do not have exact information about the man’s motive, but the possibility of a terrorist attack has been ruled out.

29-year-old Marí is a contract player of Arsenal. In August, he moved to the Italian team Monza on a loan deal.

The grocery store has offered its employees the help of a psychologist.
