Paavo Lipponen has kept a low profile in public.
Former Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen, 82, arrived at the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Republic, Alexander Stubb, at the Parliament House.
Lipponen served as Prime Minister of Finland in 1995–2003. After this, he served as the Speaker of the Parliament before resigning from the position of MP in 2007.

On Friday, March 1, Lipponen, like other prime ministers, arrived at the Parliament as an invited guest for Stubb’s inauguration. He sat next to ex-prime minister Matti Vanhanen, Anneli Jäätteenmäki, Mari Kiviniemi, Juha Sipilä and Antti Rinnee. The prime ministers shook hands.

After becoming a Member of Parliament, Lipponen has written memoirs. His first work, memoirs 1, was published in 2009. The second volume was published in 2014. Maria Veitola in Yökylä program in 2023, Lipponen said that he is currently writing more memoirs.
– That’s my main job now. The only problem with that is that I don’t remember anything, Paavo Lipponen said on TV.
Lipponen’s wife Päivi Lipponen said that he got himself a dog for company.
– Don’t you have Paavos company anymore? Maria Veitola asked in the program.
– Paavo has his own world. He has his own memoir writing and the rest of the world. It’s a big age difference, life is different. I myself am so keen to move, go and have fun, you can’t share such things, Päivi answered.
