Ozzy Osbourne bites off bat’s head (video)

The animal looks really fake in the video, like it’s made of rubber. Or at least like it’s made of stiff rubber, because it doesn’t move. The bat’s natural behavior of becoming rigid in bright light probably proved fatal.

Why Ozzy Osbourne still felt the urge to put this immobile thing that was suddenly lying on the stage floor in his mouth is still unclear to this day. Possibly something to do with his upbringing and what he shouldn’t do.

Happ, Happ, Ozzy bites

In 1982, at a concert in Des Moines, USA, this bat flew onto the stage, wait: a fan threw it onto the stage (how that happened is a mystery, why does the bat do that?), and within a few seconds -Happ seconds, with a courageous bite, Osbourne cultivates the highest level of image cultivation that a metal musician couldn’t do better. It makes him the ultimate bad guy. Black Sabbath, whose singer he was, could never have done anything to counteract that.

Osbourne later explained the incident and dispelled the myth. He thought a fan had thrown a Halloween toy onto the stage. When he shoved the bat’s head into his mouth, the animal naturally began to flap its wings. Osbourne was frightened and tried to quickly pull his head out again – and accidentally tore his head off. “My mouth was suddenly full of warm liquid,” the singer recalled. “It was the worst aftertaste imaginable.”

After the concert, Osbourne went straight to the hospital, where he was given anti-rabies medication as a precaution.
