Suspended since March
Mesut Özil’s future doesn’t seem to lie in the stands of Fenerbahce Istanbul after all. The ex-captain, who has been suspended since March, responded to a report by “NTV Sport” An agreement was reached with the Süper Lig club and the contract originally dated until 2024 was terminated.
Most recently, the 33-year-old emphasized that he was “not on vacation” in Istanbul and that he wanted to fight for his place in the team. The club has not yet given any information about the reason for the suspension. According to reports, there was a dispute between the midfielder and the now dismissed coach Ismail Kartal at the beginning of the year. The new coach Jorge Jesus had emphasized in the course of his presentation a few weeks ago that he would not change the decision and that he did not want to do without Özil.

Fenerbahce: Mesut Ozil in contact with Istanbul Basaksehir
