Özcan Akyol is not impressed by the RTL 4 program Lago di Beau, in which Beau van Erven Dorens gives two celebrities a sunny ego trip every episode. “It’s shabby.”
Beau van Erven Dorens is always highly praised for the programs he makes with ordinary people. People are much less enthusiastic about his new show Lago di Beau, in which he receives famous Dutch people on Lake Como. René van der Gijp already made mincemeat of it and Jan Uriot thinks the program is slow.
Recycle television
VARAgids reader Cor is absolutely not enthusiastic either, he says in Özcan Akyol’s letter section. “Are you also so impressed by Beau at Lake Como?” he wonders cynically. “When I watch the program, I think of Rik Felderhof with nostalgia.”
Dan: “With Beau, the conversations mean nothing. And the fumbling in and out of the boat is annoying. Youp is right again, it is recycled television.”
shabby
Özcan seems to agree completely. “I actually find almost everything they currently make on RTL 4 shabby and uninspired. Maybe I set the bar too high. And I am naive. But you would prefer that television lasts, that we are still talking about it days later, like the revelations of Tim Hofman recently.”
“What we are often presented with is actually forgotten a few hours later. Everyone just imitates each other. At SBS 6 they even stole the scaffolding from Matthijs continues in a new music program. It is dishonorable and hopeless.”
