Özcan Akyol does not tolerate his letter writers fantasizing about Fidan Ekiz. One of them, named Machiel, calls her a Goddess to be worshiped. “Dirty man!”
Television star Özcan Akyol is shocked. In his letters section in the VARA guide, the presenter of Omroep MAX is confronted with a man who looks madly in love with Fidan Ekiz. This ‘Machiel’ says she is ‘stunned’ that the presenter is single again since her relationship with Wierd Duk failed again.
Pressure ulcer material
Machiel speaks of a ‘ravishing, intelligent, empathetic and funny woman with self-reflection and mockery’. “It is an injustice that should be on the agenda at the UN for it not to be idolized by a partner on a daily basis.”
Does he see himself as potential dating material? “As a boomer of only 1.68 meters who cleans pressure ulcer material on a daily basis, I don’t stand a chance. But thousands of other men would have to flirt like hell for this Goddess anyway, damn it. Import the entire oeuvre of Joan Baez from the US for her.”
Ozcan intervenes
This letter reader Machiel, who even talks about airplanes that have to circle above Rotterdam with the text: ‘Fidan, I am your man’, asks Özcan for help. “Surely this is an abuse that could be rectified for a man like you with contacts with the intelligentsia. So that Fidan gets the love she deserves.”
Özcan thinks that this reader of his letters column goes too far. “I think you are a dirty little man who secretly fantasizes about Fidan Ekiz somewhere near a box of tissues, just in case accidents happen and possible evidence could be left behind, in the form of smudges.”
He does not help the gentleman. “You really disappoint me. That’s why I’m not going to answer.”
